The BCRT celebrates its 10th anniversary together with the Cluster HealthCapital Berlin-Brandenburg at the "RegMed Forum 2016 - 10 Years BCRT".
Berlin, 5 October 2016 - The Berlin-Brandenburg Centre for Regenerative Therapies (BCRT) and the HealthCapital Berlin-Brandenburg Cluster are jointly celebrating the 10th anniversary of the BCRT at this year's "RegMed Forum - 10 Years BCRT", which will take place from 6 to 7 October 2016 at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Berlin.
Review and outlook on regenerative medicine in the Berlin/Brandenburg region
Scientists at the Berlin-Brandenburg Centre for Regenerative Therapies have been conducting research since 2006. Founded as an alliance of the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, the BCRT is exemplary for interdisciplinary research. Doctors, scientists and engineers work hand in hand at the BCRT for more efficient therapies. The early detection of diseases leads to patient-friendly medicine and at the same time saves treatment costs. The basis of regenerative therapies is to diagnose the individual healing potential of the patient and make optimal use of it. The aim is to strengthen or restore cells, tissues or organs whose function is impaired. In addition to researching the scientific basis, the BCRT has the task of transferring new findings and therapeutic approaches into clinical practice as quickly as possible in the interest of patients.
The "RegMedForum 2016 - 10 Years BCRT" brings together the players of the health region Berlin/Brandenburg in the field of regenerative medicine. Together with cooperation partners, the range of work anchored in the region will be presented. Internationally renowned physicians, scientists and engineers will report on the success of improved regeneration after bone or muscle injuries, on new approaches in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, on the possibilities of immune cell therapies and on the use of innovative biomaterials. Successes and current research results will be discussed and new challenges for clinical application will be addressed. At the same time, the "RegMed Forum 2016 - 10 Years BCRT" enables existing contacts between researchers, clinics, industry and politics to be deepened and expanded. A special partnering event, organised by the Enterprise Europe Network EEN, stimulates the initiation of joint research and development projects.
The event "RegMed Forum 2016 - 10 Years BCRT" is jointly organized by the BCRT and the Cluster HealthCapital Berlin-Brandenburg. It is the meeting of experts in regenerative medicine in the region and thus a suitable platform to pay due tribute to the 10th anniversary of the BCRT with partners from politics, science and industry.
About the Berlin-Brandenburg Centre for Regenerative Therapies (BCRT)
The Berlin-Brandenburg Centre for Regenerative Therapies is an interdisciplinary translation centre with the aim of understanding the body's own healing processes in order to use them for the development and implementation of innovative therapies. As clinical research fields, the focus is on diseases of the immune system, the musculoskeletal system and the cardiovascular system for which only unsatisfactory treatment options are available. The technological research fields focus on in situ tissue engineering, polymer-based biomaterials, molecular analysis and cell engineering.
The BCRT was founded in 2006 as an alliance of the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Helmholtz Association. More than 250 employees - doctors, natural scientists, translation experts, engineers, doctoral students and technical staff - research and work at the BCRT's two locations: at the Institute Building South of the Virchow Clinic Campus of the Charité and at the Teltow Campus of the Institute for Biomaterial Research of the Helmholtz Centre Geesthacht.
