Together with the co-authors PD Dr. med. Tilman Pfitzner, Dr.-Ing. Philippe Moewis, Dr.-Ing. Heide Boeth, Patrick Stein and Prof. Georg Duda, PD Dr. med. Philipp von Roth was awarded the science prize 2017 of the AE - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Endoprothetik for the publication "Modifications of femoral component design in multi-radius total knee arthroplasty lead to higher lateral posterior femoro-tibial translation". The study was published in June 2017 in the journal Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy (KSSTA). In this excellent paper, the working group dealt with the influence of the implant geometry of total knee endoprostheses on the movement of the prosthesis in the patient 2 years after implantation. It could be shown that a more natural motion sequence can be achieved with the investigated total knee prosthesis than with the previously used total knee prosthesis.
In addition, the working group headed by Dr. rer. medic. Janosch Schoon and Anastasia Rakow received the Science Award 2017 in the field of basic research for their work "Multi-elemental nanoparticle exposure after tantalum component failure in hip arthroplasty: In-depth analysis of a single case". The study was published in August 2017 in Elsevier: Nanomedicine: Nanotechnology, Biology and Medicine.
