Director of the Centrums for Musculoskeletal Surgery receives award for his many years of voluntary work
Prof. Norbert Haas, Director of the Centrums für Muskuloskeletale Chirurgie der Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, has been awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class for his many years of honorary work. The committed trauma surgeon, orthopaedist and researcher received this high award from the Federal Republic of Germany from the Federal Minister of Education and Research, Prof. Annette Schavan.
Parallel to his professional functions, including as Medical Director of the Charité Center for Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery, Prof. Haas is an honorary member of the board and advisory board of many national and international scientific organizations, such as the Center for Sports Science and Sports Medicine Berlin, Julius Wolff Institute and the German Medical Association.
Prof. Haas was born in Ludwigsburg in 1946. After studying medicine in Tübingen and Kiel, he worked and habilitated at the Hanover Medical School. In 1992 Prof. Haas was appointed to the Chair of Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery at the Virchow Clinic campus. Since 2003 he has headed the Centre for Musculoskeletal Surgery consisting of the Clinic for Orthopaedics on Campus Charité Mitte and the Clinic for Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery on Campus Virchow-Klinikum of Charité.
