A look behind the scenes at "Berlin's Charité".
Numerous visitors gained insights into the research of the Julius Wolff Institute at the Charité Open Day on Saturday, 9 October 2010. The Julius Wolff Institute presented itself on the Virchow Campus in Wedding with several information and participation stands as well as guided tours through the research laboratories.
In addition to the function and structure of instrumented implants, the visitors were able to inform themselves about a current back study and its goals. At the same time there was the possibility of a gait analysis in which the load distribution on the foot was analyzed.
Particularly attractive for young and old was the histology laboratory, which showed the colourful world of tissue. During a guided tour, the visitors got to know the cell and histology laboratories of the Julius Wolff Institute and produced tissue sections independently. Afterwards, the self-produced sections were stained with different solutions according to the expert's instructions. After a short drying time, the young researchers were able to examine the stained tissue samples under the microscope and then take them home with them.
