The equipment of our histology laboratories allows the making of plastic and paraffin preparations from soft and hard tissue.

Plastic embedded specimens

In this laboratory, plastic preparations can be made from non-decalcified hard tissue. Beside slices, grindings with or without metal implants can be prepared. By different histological stainings, several tissue types including mineralized tissue can be highlighted.

Alcian Blue staining for detection of acid mucosubstances

Paraffin embedded specimens

The equipment of the immunohistological laboratory allows the preparation of paraffin slices from decalcified hard and soft tissue. Several staining methods allow the characterization of different tissue and cell types.

Hematoxylin and Eosin staining for overview

TRAP (tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase) histochemistry for detection of osteoclasts

Methylgreen / van Giesson staining for visualization of cartilage tissue

Immunohistochemical stainings

For detection of proteins by antigen-antibody reaction, the Avidin-Biotin method (peroxidase, alkaline phosphatase) is used. Beside several established antigen detection protocols, new protocols are established depending on the research Projects.
